Sony’s State of Play brought the heavy-hitters in lieu of a traditional E3, and there was a lot to enjoy in just under half an hour. Here’s everything announced at PlayStation’s State of Play.
E3 has been canceled for 2022, but Sony’s State of Play has become an enjoyable, if sporadic, fixture on the gaming calendar. Still, with PS5 selling well, the publisher isn’t taking its foot off the gas.
From indie darlings to blockbuster AAA franchises, there’s a lot to catch up on. If you missed the showcase, here’s everything announced at PlayStation’s State of Play.

Resident Evil 4 Remake has a release date
Arguably the series’ finest entry to date, Resident Evil 4’s remake has been rumored for some time. Opening the show with not only a first look at how Leon Kennedy’s seminal adventure has been revamped, but also giving a release date, was a great way to kick off the show.
Resident Evil 4 Remake will launch on March 24, 2023, and PSVR2 content is in development for it, too.
Marvel’s Spider-Man is coming to PC
Insomniac Games’ first Spider-Man adventure will swing onto PC on August 12, following in the footsteps of Horizon: Zero Dawn and God of War (2018).

We’ll be honest, the trailer is a little spoilery if you’re a PC player that hasn’t got to this one yet.
PlayStation VR 2 titles shine at State of Play
We’ve known PSVR 2 is in development for a while, and while we don’t have any new information about the hardware, we do have a better idea of what we’ll be playing on it.
Resident Evil Village will be playable through the upgraded headset, as will The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners 2 (previously announced at last month’s Meta Quest showcase). No Man’s Sky will also come to PSVR 2.

Perhaps most excitingly, Sony revealed the first gameplay footage of Horizon: Call of the Mountain, a PSVR 2 exclusive, at State of Play.
That’s not all for Horizon fans, either, as Forbidden West is getting an update today that adds performance mode, gear transmog, character respec, New Game Plus, and ultra-hard difficulty.
The Callisto Protocol launches in 2022
Originally intended as a PUBG spinoff from Glen Schofield, co-creator of Dead Space, this haunting survival horror looks terrifying in its latest trailer.
Even better news for horror fans is that it’s launching this year, on December 2, 2022.
Stray gets a release date
Stray, Annapurna’s feline-focused exploration title, will finally arrive on July 19. It’s set in a Cyberpunk dystopia where you play as a cat and try to survive.
And that’s not all
Elsewhere in the showcase we saw Rollerdrome, a stylised rollerskating combat title, as well as Eternights — an “action dating game”.
Then there’s Season: A letter to the future, which looks like a gorgeous road trip we can’t wait to take, and confirmation that Tunic, previously an Xbox exclusive, is coming to PS5 and PS4 on September 27. Wondering if it’s worth checking out? Be sure to read our glowing review.
That’s everything we saw at PlayStation’s State of Play event. For more on upcoming gaming events, check out our pages for next week’s Summer Games Fest and the Xbox & Bethesda showcase.
