Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is in the works at MachineGames, a dev team under the Bethesda umbrella that’s owned by Microsoft. But could this upcoming title still find its way to Sony’s PS5?

Years on from its announcement and further still from the last game in the iconic franchise, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is finally coming into focus.

A deep dive at the start of 2024 provided the first proper look at the first-person adventure, showcasing everything from whip-based combat to puzzle solving and plenty of exploration to boot. While this showcase occurred during an Xbox Dev Direct, could it soon swing onto other platforms?

Rumors about Xbox-exclusive titles coming to other platforms swirled in early 2024. So, here’s what we know about the possibility of a PS5 release for The Great Circle.

Will Indiana Jones and the Great Circle release on PS5?

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on PlayStation 5 in Spring 2025. First, the title launches for Xbox and PC on Dec. 9.

This comes after Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer initially confirmed during the Official Xbox Podcast’s Updates on the Xbox Business episode that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was not one of the Xbox titles coming to other platforms.

However, a February 2024 report from The Verge indicated a PS5 launch was being strongly ‘considered’ as Microsoft weighed its options amid a turbulent period in Xbox history. Though fans shouldn’t expect a day and date release, a PS5 port could arrive “some months later” in 2025.

This news made the rounds amid a string of reports surrounding Microsoft’s supposed change in strategy. Losing the hardware war to Sony by a considerable margin, Game Pass and exclusive titles remain the main drivers behind Xbox’s revenue. Seeking to earn a little extra from software sales, the company is reportedly open to bringing many of its platform exclusives over to rival consoles.

The Verge released a subsequent interview with Spencer following the Xbox Podcast. When asked whether Indiana Jones could ever come to PS5, Spencer said, “I don’t think we should as an industry ever rule out a game going to any other platform. We’re focused on these four games and learning from the experience.”
