Loki is a beloved character available to play in Marvel Rivals but to get the best out of him you’ll need to fully understand his abilities, ultimate, and playstyle.
As a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, much of your job is supporting your team, including healing and buffing them up. However, the best ones do way more than that.
What makes Loki extremely good is he not only heals but also functions almost as another Duelist if needed, putting out tons of poke damage to enemies on the battlefield. He’s a fantastic fighter in the right hands.

Tips to play Loki in Marvel Rivals
If there’s one thing to keep note of when playing Loki, is that his effectiveness is heavily reliant on your mechanics – especially when it comes to his heal and damage rate.
You’ll need to be able to precisely aim at your allies and enemies to effectively heal and damage, but once you’re over the steep learning curve, he becomes one of the best Strategists in the game.
Since you’ll be in the backline somewhat stationary, it’s important to be ready at any moment to defend yourself from a targeted dive from enemies.
Luckily, his kit is built to get you out of such situations, as you can easily cast a Doppelganger and go invisible.
The other great thing about Loki’s kit is that you aren’t pigeonholed into becoming a healbot, as you can easily start flanking and become a pseudo-Duelist to dish out a lot of damage – although we can’t guarantee your teammates will support you doing so.
Best team comp
When it comes to pairing Loki with other heroes, we would recommend running him with these characters in Marvel Rivals:
- Hela
- Scarlet Witch
- Thor
Hela
Hela and Loki share a Team Up Ability which let’s you play Loki much more aggesively. When Hela’s final attack defeats an enemy, she can instantly revive Loki. If he’s still alive however, he receives a nice boost of Bonus Health instead.

These buffs give you room to be more aggresive due to the extra health and revives. So if you would rather have Loki in the thick of the action, this is an ideal pairing.
Check out our full Hela guide for more on how she plays.
Scarlet Witch
Scarlet Witch can use her Dark Seal ability to stun enemies, and Loki can activate his Deception to sneak up and backstab them. It’s a sneaky stratgegy but it’s a pretty surefire way to take heroes down without having to worry about being countered (thanks to the Stuns).
With her Mystic Projection Scarlet Witch can become insivible too which means you’ve got twice the sleathy powers between the two heroes.
Don’t forget to give our dedicated Scarlet Witch guide a read before playing her.
Thor
Thor is a tanky Vanguard character in Marvel Rivals who’s another great teammate for Loki. As well as also benefitting from Hela’s Team Up Ability, Thor excels at close combat so he can easily dish out damage and keep the enemy busy while Loki sneaks up to backstab them. Finally, Loki’s healing abilties can also ensure that Thor stays in the fight for as as possible.

Best counters
If you’re struggling to defeat a Loki in Marvel Rivals, we’d advise using these characters:
- Star-Lord
- Hela
Star-Lord
Star Lord’s greatest strength against Loki is his mobility. Loki isn’t the best at moving around the map so an agile fighter like Star-Lord is ideal to single out the God of Mischief.
He really excels at flanking so as long as you’re hasseling the enemy backline, you should be able to easily single out Loki and take him down.
Hela
Hela is fantastic ally for Loki but she’s also a formiddable foe for the God. Thanks to her great crowd control and AoE abilitites so easily dispatch Loki pesky Doppelgangers.
Once you’ve handled his duplicates, you can unleash the Soul Drainer ability to stun Loki and deal some decent damage.
