Tomb Raider gets different version on Epic Games

The Tomb Raider developers issued an official update for the game via Steam on February 29. Rumors of different assets being available on Epic Games had been surfacing on the internet – something that was addressed in the update.

“A development build with incomplete assets has been available for download on the Epic Games Store,” the post read. “Content in that Epic Games Store build contained some work-in-progress materials that do not represent our final quality expectations. We have corrected the build to match the live Steam version.”

Players and fans of the franchise called out the message, arguing that it was not what the developers wanted to put out in the community. The update allegedly contained more photo opportunities, as well as additional high-resolution textures.

“How is it incomplete when it’s MORE COMPLETE than Steam/GOG builds?” asked on commenter. “Do you think we’re idiots?”

Another issue with the post was the explanation that the upcoming patch would take weeks, which some players thought was “inexcusable” considering how long it had been since the game was released without further communication.
