The trailer for AXC GAMES’ upcoming ANAREA battle royale has landed, but fans are apparently unable to watch it without instantly thinking of H1Z1.
AXC GAMES is a small, independent French development studio, that was only founded in April of this year. Originally starting as a studio of 3 employees, the company has since expanded and now has 10 people working on the upcoming ANAREA Battle Royale.
The French developers explain that they want ANAREA to be a “fast-paced” battle royale game, “which will aim to be innovative and dynamic”. On December 16, the studio dropped the game’s first trailer.

The trailer has generated considerable excitement on social media, garnering over 120,000 views since its launch on the evening of December 16.
However, many fans failed to escape comparisons between ANAREA and H1Z1, Daybreak Game Company’s third-person battle royale originally released in early 2015.
The third-person design, paired with the game’s graphics and map, led many to come to the conclusion that the upcoming battle royale was heavily inspired by H1Z1. Some even drew a comparison between the gun sounds and those in H1Z1.

ANAREA’s map is a post-apocalyptic environment, which will host battle royale between 60 players.
The game’s developers also claim it will be proportionally smaller than maps in other BRs, fitting with their intentions to make a fast-paced game.
“Skilled and aggressive gameplay, no bloom system or too long loot phase. No doubt that it’ll be necessary to show efficiency and fighting spirit to reach the royal victory,” the game’s developers say. “With ANAREA, we really want to stand out by the in-game feeling that the player can feel.”
The game’s ‘estimated delivery’ is December 2019, but this is subject to change given the relatively small development team.
Donating to support AXC GAMES earns potential players in-game rewards depending on the size of the donation provided. At the time of writing, over €10,000 has been raised by potential players.
Regardless of the small development studio and H1Z1 likeness, many fans are excited at the prospect of dropping into yet another battle royale world.
