From what we’ve seen so far, it appears that both Kiryu and Ichiban will be leading the game in a dual protagonist role, and one recent piece of news was the confirmation that Kiryu will be voiced by a new actor in the dubbed version of the game.

Yong Yea will be the new English voice of Kiryu appearing alongside Kaiji Von Tang who will be reprising his role as Ichiban from Yakuza 7: Like A Dragon. The actor confirmed the news in a Tweet on June 21, 2023.

MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura uploaded a video of a Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio tour, the developers of the Yakuza games, and a small section of it showed off three characters that players will recognize. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth gameplay

While the first two trailers for Yakuza 8 didn’t show off any gameplay footage, we expect the next title will also feature flashy turn-based combat.

After all, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was the first game to abandon the real-time beat ’em up action the series is known for. Instead, players could select from a variety of moves and choose a class for each character, creating a unique spin on the series’ combat.

Of course, we’ll be sure to update this section as soon as news has been announced.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth setting

Kasuga Ichiban on a US beachKasuga appears to have landed in the US in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth.

While the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio tour and Xbox Showcase didn’t go into where the game will be set, the game’s director did previously hint that future games could be set outside Japan.

This statement was seemingly backed up during the Xbox Showcase, where viewers got to see a naked and confused Kasuga Ichiban, who appeared to have washed up on an American beach.

Similarly, the September 2023 trailer also features Ichiban being sent to Honolulu, Hawaii. So it’s likely a significant portion of the game takes place there.
