Barbara
- Rarity: 4-star
- Weapon: Catalyst
As one of Genshin Impact’s free characters, Barbara is available to every player. This 4-star specializes as the archetypal healer, which can be a huge bonus for any team that finds themselves taking damage. As a Catalyst user, Barbara can safely douse her enemies with water attacks from afar.
Both Barbara’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst provide lifesaving AoE heals, giving players the strength to carry on fighting. In fact, the best Barbara build can give you the edge over even the fiercest of foes, so make sure you use it when adding the Shining Idol to your team.
Candace
- Rarity: 4-star
- Weapon: Polearm
Candace is a 5-star Hydro unit that uses a Polearm in battle. She can act as a great support character or sub-DPS in most team comps thanks to her ability to enhance elemental damage onto normal attacks with her Elemental Burst which can deal a substantial amount of damage before the buff is applied.
Unique to Candace is also a shield and parry mechanic that can be used to safely mitigate oncoming damage.
Furina
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Sword
Furina is a 5-star Hydro character that wields a sword in combat. She specializes in dealing AoE Hydro DMG based on her Max HP. Most of Furina’s damage output comes from her Elemental Skill, which she can also use to heal depending on her Arkhe alignment.
Furina’s Elemental Burst can deal Hydro DMG to surrounding enemies. Also, it can increase the DMG dealt by and incoming healing bonus of all nearby party members based on the amount of Fanfare points earned through HP fluctuation.
Hydro Traveler
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Sword
The Hydro version of Genshin Impact’s protagonist, the Traveler was added in the game’s version 4.0 update. They use a Sword in battle and can perform up to 5 rapid strikes with their Normal attack. With their Elemental Skill, they send a Turrent surge of dangerous Hydro DMG toward enemies which can be particularly effective if you need to take a ranged approach in battle.
Finally, the Hydro Travelers Elemental Burst unleashes a floating Hydro bubble that deals consistent DMG to opponents. This version of the Traveler isn’t particularly powerful compared to other Hydro characters, but they’re a solid option if you don’t have any other Hydro units available.
Kamisato Ayato
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Sword
The faceless head of the Yashiro Commission no more — Kamisato Ayato has been released. Not only does he have an elegant design but the way he fights on the battlefield embodies that with swift, fluid movements.
He shines as both a Hydro DPS, handing out some of the highest damage in the game (sorry Childe, your time has come), and as a support due to the frequency of his Hydro application.
Mona
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Catalyst
Mona is Genshin Impact’s resident Hydro mage. This highly skilled astrologist may be poor in Mora, but she certainly isn’t lacking in utility. The Astral Reflection is a great addition to any team that aims to quickly immobilize all enemies on the battlefield with plenty of damage to boot.

The mage’s auto attacks, Elemental Skill, and Elemental Burst all deal AoE Hydro damage – making her incredibly useful to Freeze comps. Consider utilizing Mona if you have a Ganyu or Ayaka as your main DPS as their damage will skyrocket.
Nilou
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Sword
While Nilou may be a Hydro character, she has the handy ability to change Dendro cores into a more powerful version of themselves known as Bountiful Cores, so pairing her with a Dendro character in your team comp would be ideal to make the most out of this fighter.
Bountiful Cores can deal powerful damage to multiple enemies at once but unfortunately, Nilou can take damage from exploding cores so it’s best to have a healer on your team as well. Nilou acts as a great sub-DPS in primary Dendro teams.
Neuvillette
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Catalyst
Neuvilette is a Catalyst Hydro weilder in Genshin Impact. He has a unique floating mechanic which means he can easily navigate over large bodies of water in the game’s overworld. He also hovers in battle when performing Charged Attacks which can give his team a big speed boost in combat.
Thanks to his Hydro elemental application, Neuvillette can act as a fantastic DPS or Sub-DPS in plenty of team comps, especially when paired up with characters whose attacks deal elemental damage on impact.
Sangonomiya Kokomi
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Catalyst
Kokomi is currently one of the most picked Genshin Impact characters in 2.4, which is largely down to her incredible healing capabilities. In fact, the Divine Priestess of Watatsumi Island can get travelers through even the toughest floors of the Spiral Abyss.
Just like with Mona, applying AoE Hydro is extremely easy with Kokomi. All of her abilities apply the Wet effect and her ability to heal allies on the brink of death is unparalleled. If you’re struggling to keep your team alive in the Abyss or just need a Hydro character you can rely on, the Kokomi is your girl.
Tartaglia (Childe)
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Bow
As the eleventh member of the Fatui Harbingers, Tartaglia is no stranger to intense clashes of battle. Unlike the other Hydro characters in Genshin Impact, Childe excels at pumping out damage and can serve as a team’s main DPS unit.
His abilities enable quick transitions from ranged bow attacks to swift sword slices, allowing players to constantly chip away at their foes. While this highly skilled combatant doesn’t have any healing abilities, his AoE and single target Hydro damage make him extremely viable.
Xingqiu
- Rarity: 4-star
- Weapon: Sword
If you’ve been playing Genshin Impact for a while, then chances are you’re aware of just how impactful Xingqiu is. This 4-star character can buff any DPS unit, adding the Hydro element to their attacks.
This buff is so potent that Xingqui currently has a pick rate of around 85% and above in the Genshin Impact 2.4 update. While his kit may not look overly flash, the added damage from both his Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst is just too good to pass up.
Yelan
- Rarity: 5-star
- Weapon: Bow
It’s back-to-back Hydro characters in Genshin Impact, with Yelan expected to join the character roster in Version 2.7.
Rumored to be wielding a bow, the five-star will also scale off of Health, with a kit that looks to support allies with her abundance of off-field utility.
