Yaoyao is an adorable character coming to Genshin Impact soon. After appearing in the manga as the game’s first Dendro character, she will finally debut in-game: here’s what we know about the four-star character, who has been confirmed for release in update 3.4.

Yaoyao was widely speculated to be one of Genshin Impact’s first-ever Dendro characters ⁠— from almost the moment the Liyue region launched in the game. Her appearance in the manga alongside Qiqi did a lot to push that movement forward.

There’s plenty of voice lines from Genshin Impact’s main cast about Yaoyao too, only further fueling rumors she could be released very soon. But she didn’t appear in the early Sumeru patches. It took months, but now her existence in-game is finally confirmed ahead of Version 3.4.

Who is Yaoyao in Genshin Impact?

We know a bit about Yaoyao through the Genshin Impact main story. She is a former chef who gave up life in the kitchen to become an assistant for Ganyu instead ⁠— well, the Adepti does say she was only told to “keep an eye on [Yaoyao]”.

She wanders around Liyue Harbor, having made friends with Beidou ⁠— often jumping onto her ship to play once it comes into dock. As we mentioned earlier, she was also taught by Madame Ping alongside Xiangling and is quite a good cook.

Yaoyao abilities in Genshin Impact

The recent Live Stream Special Program for Genshin Impact version 3.4 has not only confirmed the release of Yaoyao but has also given us a sneak peek of her abilities in the game. However, despite knowing how the character performs in battle, we are yet to find out the specifics of Yaoyao’s Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst.

However, the official live stream did reveal a few interesting points about Yaoyao’s White Jade Radishes ability. Here’s everything that was revealed about this ability in Genshin Impact:

• Yaoyao will throw out White Jade Radishes depending on the surrounding combat situation. Upon exploding, White Jade Radishes will heal characters within a certain AoE based on the Elemental Skill’s value.

• While Yaoyao is in the Adeptal Legacy state when casting her Elemental Burst, the White Jade Radish explosions will heal characters based on the Elemental Burst’s value.

Is there a Yaoyao release date in Genshin Impact?

Yes, Yaoyao does have a set release date in Genshin Impact. The official HoYoverse Live Stream Special Program for version 3.4 has confirmed that the new character will be released in the first phase of the update. Having said that, keep your eyes peeled for when Version 3.4 drops on January 17, 2023.
