The actor who provided the voice of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas protagonist Carl ‘CJ’ Johnson has responded to rumors that the character will be returning to GTA 6 – and slammed Rockstar Games in the process.
Though there has been no official confirmation from Rockstar that GTA 6 is in development, it is clear that the game will be coming at some stage, with many reports suggesting it will be arriving sooner rather than later.
However, regardless of whether CJ will be returning for GTA 6, one thing is clear: voice actor Chris Bellard has made it clear what his feelings are towards playing the part, and the developer themselves, in an Instagram post.
Posting a screenshot of an article suggesting that CJ might be returning, Bellard couldn’t have been more clear that he has zero intention of returning to the franchise.
The post said: “To kill the rumors! I’m not involved in GTA VI at all. F**k @Rockstargames period… CJ will have to be voiced by another MF but not me IDGAF what y’all heard.”
Bellard clearly has some serious beef with Rockstar, but in the years since San Andreas’ release it has never been made clear exactly what the issue is between the two parties.

Over the years, it seems that Bellard isn’t the only Grand Theft Auto voice actor to have had issues with Rockstar Games. Ray Liotta, who voiced Tommy Vercetti in GTA: Vice City, is rumored to have felt under-appreciated for the effort he put into the part.
Similarly, Michael Hollick – who voiced Niko Bellic in Grand Theft Auto IV – seemed to be ruled out of voicing characters in GTA again after complaining about his pay to the New York Times back in 2008.
So, while it can’t be confirmed whether players will get to experience a world with CJ once again, one thing is for certain… It won’t be CJ as you remember him.
