GTA 5 and GTA Online are available on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox consoles, so for those curious about crossplay, we’ve got all the information you need about the feature below.
There’s something for every kind of player in GTA V and Online. Whether you just want to experience the main story, collect all the fastest cars & motorcycles, participate in the Cayo Perico heist, or just cause chaos around the city.
However, before you can dive into the action with friends, it’s important to keep cross-platform play in mind especially if you’re all on different devices.
Is GTA 5 & GTA Online crossplay?
No, GTA V & Online are not crossplay. Rockstar Games hasn’t implemented the feature for the title, despite it being quite common for games to have these days.
As it’s been released on various consoles over the years, each platform would likely need to undergo various changes to enable every player to have a fair shot at surviving online, regardless of their preferences.

Will crossplay come to GTA V & GTA Online?
There’s currently no information as to whether GTA 5 or its online counterpart will ever receive crossplay but it seems very unlikely for several reasons.
The fact we’re so late in the game’s development cycle, it’s now over a decade old, and GTA 6 is set to arrive in 2025, implementation of crossplay at this stage Rockstar will be putting their development time and focus into the next installment, so it would be surprising to see cross-platform play arrive for GTA 5 anytime soon.
