Rockstar Games, developers behind the acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series, may have hinted that GTA 6 is coming soon with a new job listing for Rockstar Leeds.
As is expected with a game as anticipated as Grand Theft Auto 6, rumors and leaks have been swirling for months, as fans look for any indication that another open world crime game is on its way.
GTA V was acclaimed as one of the best video games ever made, and has undoubtedly fed into fan excitement regarding a sequel. Despite not yet being confirmed, the most reputable and believable leaks for GTA 6 appear to indicate it will be with us around Christmas 2020, at roughly the same time the PS5 will be released.
Fans believe they could have found yet another hint that GTA 6 is being worked on, this time through a job advert for Rockstar Leeds.
Rockstar Leeds is a branch of the developer based in Leeds, England, that works under parent company Rockstar Games. In the past they have worked on game development for the PlayStation Portable, developing Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories.
The job listing calls for an “Environment Artist” who will be responsible for “creating and texturing environment assets for the biggest and best open world environment in the industry”.
The advert also states: “Join our team to create next-generation worlds”. This seems a clear indication that Rockstar are referring to the next generation of video-game consoles, the PS5 and Microsoft’s Project Scarlett.

This date would coincide with leaks and rumors – that have so far suggested GTA 6’s release will coincide with the launch of next-generation consoles.
Similarly, the GTA series is known for its incredibly real, immersive open worlds, in which there is barely a limit to the places players can explore or the interactions they can have.
The references to “biggest and best” open world would match the ambition we are used to seeing from Rockstar, as they strive to make their games the best they can be.
Finally, the PlayStation Portable was discontinued by Sony in 2014. This would suggest that Rockstar Leeds has moved away from its history of developing games for this platform, and has transitioned into working in other areas.
While obviously unconfirmed, the job listing compounds other rumors and has understandably driven fan excitement to an even higher level.
