Halo Infinite is officially on its way, but when is the next installment in the legendary franchise going to be released? There’s a lot of speculation, but here is everything we know about Halo Infinite.
Halo is one of Xbox’s greatest franchises, and has become a staple of the console since Halo: Combat Evolved released on Xbox back in 2001. Infinite will be the 14th entry into the Halo series, and is the direct sequel of 2015’s Halo 5: Guardians.
Infinite was officially announced at E3 2018, but since then there has been very little new information about the highly anticipated title.

When is Halo Infinite being released?
It’s approaching four years since the release of Halo 5: Guardians, but there is no official word on when we will be getting our hands on Halo Infinite. The game was announced at E3 back in June 2018, however no information was given about it’s possible release at the event, and 343 Studios have been quiet about the game ever since.
On March 5, 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross confirmed that Halo Infinite would have a major showing at E3 2019, and confirmed that the studio was hopefull that they would be able to announce an official release date during the Xbox Showcase at the legendary gaming convention.

343 Studios have released on trailer for Halo Infinite, which they used to announce the game at E3. Unfortunately for fans who were hoping to catch a glimpse of the game, the announcement trailer wasn’t even Halo Infinite, rather just a demonstration of the new Slipspace engine.
What will the Halo Infinite story be?
Jeff Easterling has told fans to look at Halo Infinite as “Halo 6. Don’t think of it as a weird prequel thing. It’s the next story, it’s the next chapter,” and with that in mind, Halo Infinite takes place directly after the end of Halo 5:Guardians.
While Halo 5 saw players split time between Spartan Locke and Master Chief, Halo Infinite will shift the focus back to the Chief, who is seen sporting armor reminiscent of his gear from the older Halo titles.

What’s happening with Halo Infinite’s multiplayer?
Multiplayer is a key part of Halo, so it will come as no surprise that Infinite will have it as well. A job listing from September 2018 did mention microtransactions, and Halo community director Brian Jarrard did little to dispel the rumors of their addition by telling fans to “not worry over a job description” and that it “doesn’t mean it will result in something bad.”
343 have announced that four-player splitscreen will return after it’s removal from Halo 5, while it will also feature a customization system similar to the one found in Halo Reach.
Creative Director Frank O’Connor did tweet that he was “extremely happy” with how Infinite’s multiplayer was developing on Tuesday, January 8, and stated he was listening to the community as they try to fine tune it.
Will Halo Infinite have an Early Access Program?
Community Director Brian Jarrard did confirm that the game would have an Early Access Program, although when this would begin is unknown. The program will give a small number of players the opportunity to try the game at different stages of its development, giving them a say in the finished product.
343’s Chris Lee made it clear that this wasn’t a beta, and the developers have yet to comment on whether fans will get an opportunity to try the game’s multiplayer before release.
Will Halo Infinite be at E3 2019?
While Halo Infinite has made extremely brief appearances at the E3 Expo in the past, 343 Industries head Bonnie Ross confirmed to IGN that the the game will make a major appearance at the 2019 edition of the conference when it takes place in Los Angeles in the summer.
Ross confirmed that not only do they hope to announce an official release date for the title at E3, they also have plans to show off some new gameplay, with the game’s director Chris Lee also scheduled to be in attendance at the Xbox Showcase.
