Helldivers 2 players have uncovered a game-changing difference for those on PS5, one that delivers a massive buff over those on PC.
Since Helldivers 2 burst onto the scene, soaring up the Steam charts as PlayStation’s first concurrent launch on PC, the game has become a smash hit. With hundreds of thousands dropping into missions daily, it’s even been too much of a success for devs to handle at times.
With servers buckling under the pressure at times, the game has shown some of its flaws. However, it’s only now, a full month removed from launch, that one of the biggest issues has now come into the spotlight.
It turns out, those playing on PS5 may have been enjoying a slightly easier difficulty curve when fighting Terminids. Some quick testing has unearthed a major buff exclusive to those on console.
Twitch streamer ‘Maplewood’ was among the first to notice a glaring distinction between Helldivers 2 on PS5 and PC. With over 230 hours pumped into the game already, they began to notice Bile Titans weren’t exactly an equal threat across the board.
Running a few quick tests on stream, they showcased how the biggest Terminid foe to date can be wiped out with just three Railgun shots. At least, that’s the case if the lobby is hosted by a PS5 player.

Meanwhile, if a PC player is hosting the lobby, it can take up to a dozen Railgun shots instead. The streamer therefore concluded that “lobbies hosted by PS5 players increase the damage done by special weapons to Bile Titans.”
Currently, it appears this issue only impacts squads fending off Bile Titans. It also seems the host themselves won’t get the damage boost, just their teammates. There’s no evidence to support an increase in damage against any other enemy type just yet. However that’s not to say we won’t learn more soon with further testing.
In short, if able, you should be looking to have a PS5 player host your Terminid-squashing lobbies in the immediate future to save some hassle. Thus far, devs have yet to publicly address the platform distinction.Though as with all outlying issues, it’s bound to be just a matter of time until it’s on their radar.
