After the recent batch of buffs, the Helldivers 2 community finds themselves wishing that more than just shotguns got attention.
Since its release, Helldivers 2 has seen shotguns dominating the meta as players are drawn towards their power and surprising range.
This has left some fans feeling like the other weapon types in the game haven’t been getting the attention they deserve.
This continues after an update saw shotguns get some buffs, which is leading some members of the community to ask the devs to stop only focusing on them.
Helldivers 2 fans over shotguns dominating
The debate about shotguns is happening over on the Helldivers 2 subreddit where a player voices their criticisms in a post titled: “Nerfing good guns when a lot of options are underpowered is bad design.”
The post is in reference to all weapons, not just the Primary options, including Stratagems. As the player explains: “Buffing instead of nerfing not will only make people less upset, but will open up more loadouts quicker, which is what the developmers want, according to their announcement.”
But the main gripe that people are having can be seen in the comments, as one user replies to the post: “I hate they only buffed other shotguns too, man this game has been shotguns only since release, there is no love for rifles at all.”

Many players are noticing how most of the guns that received any sort of attention, both buffs and nerfs, are shotguns, leaving them to wonder if the other types will get any love.
A big issue that one user points out is that a lot of Primary weapons are available on the Premium War Bond Pass, which can cost real money. Yet, these guns are often the weakest of the bunch.
There are some coming to defend the patch, saying that more balancing is going to come:
“People are acting like this will be the only balance patch ever.”
The main thing is that Helldivers 2 players don’t want the game to lose its sense of fun, which is what has drawn them to it in the first place.
