Honkai Star Rail players slam “horrible” Relic farming grind

The Honkai Star Rail community has called out the game’s “horrible” Relic grind, with many believing it kills the excitement of new banner releases. 

Just like Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail enables players to equip Relics onto every character. Not only do they help raise a unit’s DPS and survivability, but they can also greatly improve their overall performance on the battlefield. In fact, a perfect Relic set will help you clear even the game’s toughest content. 

It’s because of this that so many players spend hours trying to grind the Relics with the best main stat and substats. However, the chances of snagging a decent set of gear for every character you use can be extremely time-consuming. 

Well, the Honkai Star Rail community believes the “horrible” Relic grind needs to change as it’s putting them off rolling for new characters.

Posting on the official Honkai Star Rail Reddit page, one player explained how they rolled for Kafka and Black Swan. While they were successful in their pulls, the process for acquiring decent Relic sets for both characters has been far from smooth. 

“As everyone knows, Relic farming in HSR just straight up sucks really bad,” explained one player. “It kills my excitement for getting the character I want ready for battle, because I have to pray to gods over at miHoYo to throw me a bone and give me a decent Relic set. But that doesn’t happen unless you either farm for weeks or even potentially months or be a whale and spend a ton of jades.”

This post has been met with a lot of similar comments from other HSR players, who have also been getting burnt out by the Relic grind. A lot of problems with Relic farming come from the extremely high RNG involved. Currently, players have no control over the main stat that they want.

Trying to get the perfect HSR Relic can be extremely difficult.

“For real though, I don’t mind a level of RNG, but ffs let us get the main stat we want so that we are just grinding substats instead,” replied another player. “There are layers upon layers of RNG and it ruins the grind.”

Many players also don’t like how certain characters feel underpowered when not using decent Relics, which only adds to the frustration of farming.“The question stands, why pull if being able to unlock a character’s full potential is almost impossible? I decided I’m only going to pull if I really, really like a character because of how annoying Relic farming/upgrading is.”

Whether HoYoverse will ever change the Relic RNG and the amount of time needed to acquire good sets remains to be seen, but for now, you’ll need to be prepared to grind if you want that crit rate enhancement.
