Cloud9’s historic win over Afreeca Freecs at the 2018 LoL World Championship, plus G2’s remarkable upset over Royal Never Give Up, ensured that only one Chinese team would make it to the semi-finals.
Cloud9 became the first NA LCS team ever to reach the semi-finals, after a dominating 3-0 win, and means that a Korean side will not be in the semis at all.
It topped off G2’s win over China’s Royal Never Give Up, which was arguably more surprising still, winning 3-2.
The other European team in the semis, Fnatic, also deserve praise for their impressive win over EDward Gaming (EDG), meaning not one but two European sides advanced.
Fans have begun labelling the remarkable journey of European teams at this year’s worlds ‘EUPHORIA’, and now have a very good chance at seeing one or possibly both in the final.
G2 will have to face China’s Invictus Gaming, who currently sit as overall favorites for the tournament. However, after their win RNGU, no one should be counting G2 out.

Meanwhile on the other side of the bracket, it will be an all Western affair, as NA vs EU face off. This match will be a lot harder to call for most fans, but Fnatic will likely be the favorites in most’s view.
The semi-finals begin on October 27, first with G2 vs Invictus Gaming, followed by Cloud9 vs Fnatic the following day on October 28.
The grand final is set for November 3rd, with a team from either North America or Europe guaranteed to feature.
