Invictus Gaming are the first team in the 2018 League of Legends World Championship finals.
Invictus took down G2 Esports in a dominant 3-0 sweep in the semi-finals to secure a shot at the Summoner’s Cup.
Coming in off of a gruelling 3-2 victory against tournament favorites KT Rolster, Invictus found much less resistance in their semi-final match-up, sweeping aside G2 with relative ease.
G2 Esports entered the semi-finals themselves having taken down Royal Never Give Up, one of the big tournament favorites and the team that had beaten Invictus in both splits of the LPL this year. Unfortunately, iG proved a much tougher stylistic match-up for the European third seed.

Where G2 have been incredibly strong in both mid and top lane, Invictus were even stronger. Incredible carry performances from iG top-laner Kang ‘TheShy’ Seung-lok in particular were too much for G2 to handle, put immediately on the back foot and never able to recover.
In the third game G2 managed to land some early blows for the first time in the series, but they weren’t able to build on the lead. Once again it was TheShy that came in huge to turn the game in iG’s favor, and the LPL team won the game and the series.
With such a convincing semi-finals performance, Invictus have made a strong case as the favorite for the trophy at this point, but they’ll still have one obstacle to overcome. Their final opponent will be decided by the other semi-final between Fnatic and Cloud9 on October 28.
