League of Legends patch 11.10 is here and we’ve got all the LoL notes & changes that dropped in the May 12 update, including a string of nerfs for some “out of control” champs, four new “Arcana” skins, Phase Rush nerfs, and plenty more.
- Riot rush out Smite rework, jungle XP changes
- Phase Rush rune cops nerfs to keep Hecarim, Udyr in check
- Pre-Ascended Xerath revealed in new “Arcana” skin line
Now that the Mid-Season Invitational is finally getting underway, Riot’s balance team have turned their attention back to the LoL solo queue experience.
This week’s patch is on the “lighter side” in regards to champion changes, lead developer Mark ‘Scruffy’ Yetter revealed. Instead, they focused on “jungle accessibility changes” in a bid to get more people queueing up for the role. Several popular LoL champs, like Lux and Kayle, were locked in for buffs.
Phase Rush also copped a raft of new Season 11 nerfs.
Finally, Riot has given LoL players a glimpse of pre-Ascended sorcerer Xerath in a new “Arcana” skin line, which will be released in this next update.
Here’s all the details on League of Legends patch 11.10, which is out now.
What’s coming in League of Legends patch 11.10?
Lux, Kayle lead buffs, Katarina nerfed again
Popular champions like Lux have made it to the buff lists this cycle.
The Demacian spellcaster in particular is one of the most popular characters in League of Legends, and was played 28,562 times in high ELO despite a lower win rate. In a similar vein, Irelia was slated to get buffs despite a hefty 5.81% presence in ranked, but was “dropped” early in the cycle.
Riot also handed Kennen, Kayle, Zyra, and Yuumi several buffs.
On the flip side, Riot has targeted Galio, Talon, Jinx, Katarina, Thresh, Bard, and new jungle terror Darius for 11.10 nerfs. They will be joined in the same column by four items; Riftmaker, Abyssal Mask, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, and Goredrinker.
Smite rework, catch-up XP returns
Riot is once again completely shaking up the way League of Legends’ jungle should be played. The latest set of changes in patch 11.10 will revert the catch-up XP removal in Season 10, rework the Smite summoner spell, and more.
Jungle monsters now do less damage, but they respawn less frequently, opening up windows for ganks. Gold has also been increased by around 5%.
On top of the camp changes, Smite now does flat damage that doesn’t scale on level — 500 at base, 1,000 once you complete your item quest to get Chilling or Challenging Smite. Using the summoner spell will also break Scuttle Crab’s shield in an attempt to widen the champ pool.
“At a high level we want these changes to be helpful and satisfying for Jungle players across all levels of play but we’re not aiming for a significant power increase or decrease for the position,” Yetter explained.
Phase Rush cops nerfs
Popular rune pick Phase Rush is finally being nerfed, and it could mark an end to the Sorcery keystone’s reign in the mid lane.
Riot is culling its movement speed bonus early, as well as increasing its cooldown from a flat 15 seconds, to a scaling cooldown starting at 30 seconds. While its duration has been increased, the big early game nerfs will make it less viable on meta picks.
Its power to take easy trades and get away from ganks easily is taking a big hit, and the late-game trade-off doesn’t mean much.
New “Arcana” skins
Riot Games has unveiled four new champion skins, set to be released in League of Legends patch 11.10 — fantastical new “Arcana” cosmetics.
Each of the new skins has a mystical splash art, drawn as if from the pages of an ancient spellbook, as well as new VFX and SFX animations. Headlining the new skins is Xerath, who is getting his first pre-Ascended alternate appearance.
Here’s all the champs getting Arcana skins:
- Camille (Epic) — 1350 RP
- Lucian (Epic) — 1350 RP
- Tahm Kench (Epic) — 1350 RP
- Xerath (Epic) — 1350 RP
The Arcana skins are also releasing with seven chromas each.
League of Legends patch 11.10 dropped on May 12.

Skins
Arcana Camille
“Poised precariously above the city, on the edge of High Arcana, Camille’s power comes from surprise and defying expectations. Her patterns seem confusing and alarming– even perilous– to those who cross her path, but they always resolve to her benefit. When burdened on the brink, Camille is at her strongest, but no one truly knows what she plans to use all that strength for…”
Arcana Lucian
“Lucian believes in balance: that no one Archetype should have excessive influence on the world. With one gun amplifying patterns and the other canceling them out, Lucian maintains the world’s fragile order within the new power vacuum– even as the likes of Tahm Kench move to fill it.”
Arcana Tahm Kench
“The epitome of power and opulence, Tahm Kench’s power drips from his tongue. Its ornate patterns captivate and cajole his listeners. He leverages those he rules, staking his power to ensure the patterns always shift in his favor– “correcting” his subjects who have gone astray.”
Arcana Xerath
“Ensnared by his own desires, Xerath leads citizens of Low Arcana to act on their basest urges. The more he is entranced by the forbidden, the more his power grows. But while Xerath believes their temptation will lead to his deliverance, he does not realize that the stronger he becomes, the more tightly his chains bind him.”
