League of Legends players have highlighted item descriptions as an area of the game that needs work following the massive overhauls made to items for the 2024 season.
With so many changes happening in League at once, it’s only natural that players are going to be a bit confused about which items do which things now.
However, it seems like too many players are struggling against item descriptions when trying to figure out how some of the new builds work, with many complaining that important mechanics remain unexplained.
This has happened despite Riot’s pledge to simplify the language they use to describe items, and make the shopping system more intuitive to use with the removal of mythic items.
League players call for greater clarity over item descriptions
One player branded some of the new item descriptions as “wildly inconsistent”, citing one of the new items added to the game for supports.

“Why is it so difficult to figure out what some items do? I feel like lately it’s not as easy to tell what items do without referring to the wiki or using prior knowledge (which is not very fair to new players). I just feel like a lot of this stuff could be clearer, the wiki descriptions make far more sense.”
They also said that World Atlas, the new support item, made no reference to the minion execute mechanic that many support players are used to, making it harder for new players to pick up and use.
Several other players agreed, with one commenter pointing out that even regular players aren’t all familiar with how distance measurement works in League.
They said: “My eternal bone to pick: If Horizon Focus buffs spells with greater than 700 range, how is a player in-game supposed to know which abilities qualify? Range is referenced, but never listed.”
