Riot Games

League of Legends Patch 10.5 is on its way, and its expected to come with some long-awaited changes to top lane powerhouse Ornn, Spellthief’s items, and even more jungle pool changes.

League’s Patch 10.4 tackled the issues the jungle was facing in Season 10 of League of Legends, and now Patch 10.5 is looking to do the same in the top lane.

Nerfs to oppressive champions like Ornn, Spellthief’s changes, and buffs to bruiser items headline the upcoming patch, which is set to drop on March 4.

After dominating the top lane in Season 10, Ornn is finally on the chopping block in Patch 10.5. For a champion designed to be a pure tank, Ornn has become a powerful damage threat in the top lane, with the ability to one shot basically anyone without the chance to fight back.

On top of that, he’s a scaling machine, helping his team garner leads well into the late game thanks to his upgraded items.

Both his damage and his Masterwork passive are being tuned down in 10.5. Ornn will now have to wait one level longer to start making the empowered items, while his Brittle will do less damage in the late game.

The ram isn’t the only thing making top laners lives hell. The new Spellthief’s passive has made playing supports top lane all the more fashionable, with Sona, Soraka, and more rotating back into the top side of the map.

Patch 10.5 will all but kill this strategy, with the gold passive now only being generated when there’s an ally nearby. This will force supports to return to their home in the bot lane, and give top laners more of a chance to play the game.

Buffs to Blade of the Ruined King, Titanic and Ravenous Hydra, and Turret plates for melee champions will also give more short-ranged top laners a chance to thrive in the meta.

Brand is expected to be added into the jungle in Patch 10.6 with “more nuanced changes” after originally being touted for a 10.5 update.
