With over a month to go until the start of the 2019 League of Legends European Championship, it looks like things are about to heat up in a big way.
It’s no secret that G2 Esports has been one of the Kings of Europe for years, but all might be as it seems with the popular organization.
According to a report released by VPEsports on December 3, multiple LEC teams are preparing to file a formal complaint to Riot Games about possible tampering attempts from G2 Esports.
In the lengthy report, multiple instances of tampering have been alleged by various sources dating all the way back to 2016.
At the center of the controversy is G2 player Luka ‘Perkz’ Perković, who is alleged to have been “vehicle through which G2 Esports contact players.”
According to VPEsports’ sources, Perkz controls the roster, saying who he’s willing to play with before contacting them himself. Management of G2 then steps in to seal the deal.

VPEsports additionally reports that “in addition to hard evidence such as the chat logs that were shown to [them] that several of the players involved will be providing statements to Riot Games explaining how their transfer came about.”
Former G2 players Jesper ‘Zven’ Svenningsen and Alfonso ‘Mithy’ Aguirre, as well as Andrei ‘Odoamne’ Pascu, Kim ‘Wadid’ Bae-in, Petter ‘Hjarnan’ Freychuss, and Elias ‘Upset’ Lipp are all named in the report as players that have been contacted directly by Perkz over the years.
While there’s no telling what will come of this, it’s worth noting that Riot Games’ Global Penalty Index provides that such an offense would carry a 3-15 month suspension.
G2 Esports responded to VPEsports’ request for comment saying, “No, Perkz has never contacted players under contract with other teams on the behalf of G2.”
Given the amount of evidence reportedly ready to be unveiled, this will likely not be the last we hear of this situation.
