League of Legends patch 11.21 is here. Here are all the LoL notes & changes coming in the October 20 update, including Viego buffs, Miss Fortune nerfs, Goredrinker changes, and new Dragonmancer skins.
- Viego gets helping hand after win rate dip
- Miss Fortune, Graves, and Goredrinker among nerfs
- Nine-year wait for Syndra update ends this patch
League of Legends patch 11.21 marks the start of Riot’s end-of-season push.
With the Worlds patch now behind us — and pro action exploding in Iceland — the developers are turning their attention to Season 12, preparing LoL players for the final ranked grind, and balancing out any champions that went wild post-11.19. These include Viego buffs, Graves and Miss Fortune nerfs, and long-awaited changes to Goredrinker and the Conqueror rune.
“We’ve got some more solo queue champion tweaks as well as a few interesting system changes which should shake stuff up,” League balance designer Riot Phlox said after unveiling the changes.
On top of those changes, new Dragonmancer skins are set to ship mid-update and will include a two releases for Yasuo and a new Volibear Prestige skin.
Here’s all the details on League of Legends patch 11.21, coming on October 20.
What’s coming in LoL patch 11.21?
Riot buffs struggling Viego
The Ruined King has been locked down since the end of the Rise of the Sentinels event. Viego has fallen out of favor in both pro and casual play, posting win rates lower than 48.3% across his three main roles: jungle (48.21%), mid lane (47.84%), and top lane (44.77%).
Following on from his massive LoL patch 11.17 changes, which really kneecapped him, Riot has decided to give him back some extra power.
Viego’s Q and R will do more damage with slight ratio increases, while his W won’t slow him as much during the charge up, meaning enemies can’t escape as easily.
Miss Fortune nerfs come after Worlds
Miss Fortune has been the dominant force of Worlds 2021. She’s risen from the ashes to be the best AD carry at the international event, boasting a 87.5% presence — third-highest behind Lee Sin and Lucian.
It’s not just pros finding great use out of Miss Fortune. She currently boasts a 52.83% win rate in solo queue with a whopping 30.46% pick rate, something that has only skyrocketed since her Worlds domination.
The Bounty Hunter is getting some hefty mana nerfs — including a reduction to her base mana pool, as well as increased costs on her W.
The Miss Fortune nerfs might come too late for affecting the Worlds meta, but it’ll at least curb players on their end-of-season ranked grind.
Goredrinker finally nerfed after months of pleas
It’s finally happened — Riot have stopped nerfing Goredrinker champions and targeted the item itself. It’s another nerf that has come too late to affect Worlds, but after terrorizing Summoner’s Rift for months, it should finally be put to bed.
The Mythic item is getting a total makeover, losing its health regen base stat as well as the Spite passive that increased damage while on low health. The Thirsting Slash active will also do less damage, with its scaling changing from total AD to just base AD.
Goredrinker’s long-lost cousin Stridebreaker is also affected by the last change.
The changes should put a stop to assassins building Goredrinker, but still make it a viable item for the bruisers it was designed for.
Syndra update comes as Riot gives old champs visual overhaul
Riot are continuing their barrage of old League of Legends champion updates in patch 11.21 with mid lane mage Syndra.
The Dark Sovereign has hardly been touched in the nine years since her release. In this update however, she will be getting a total visual overhaul to bring her in line with newer releases.
No gameplay changes to Syndra are expected.
After Syndra, Caitlyn is also expected to receive a visual upgrade, with more champions to follow in Season 12.
New Dragonmancer skins
The Dragonmancer skin line which launched in October 2020 is returning at the same time in 2021. These new skins include a Prestige release for Volibear, build on the storyline set in the last release, as the champions try to bring an end to Brand’s reign of terror as the Eternal Dragon.
Here’s all the Dragonmancer skins:
- Kai’Sa
- Karma
- Thresh
- Volibear
- Volibear Prestige edition
- Yasuo (Dream & Truth)
Dexerto can confirm each of the base Dragonmancer skins will receive nine chromas. Volibear’s new Prestige skin chromas, however, are yet to be confirmed.

Now, she adventures the world, cleansing the land and protecting those who cannot protect themselves.

After months of quiet contemplation, the fabled Tranquility Dragon greeted her in a vision. She awoke with the dragon’s gift, the power to bring tranquil peace to face Brand’s raging violence.
