League of Legends players have claimed Aurelion Sol is “worse than prepatch” after Riot hotfix nerfed the champion post his mini-rework.
Aurelion Sol has had a bit of a problematic history when it comes to League of Legends. Originally released as the answer to players’ love for Ao Shin, the galactic champion would see stars orbit around them, dealing damage to anyone it collided with.
Unfortunately, this made for one of the most clunky gameplay experiences. Not only that but the champion maintained an incredibly high win rate, even with a rather low pick rate. Therefore Riot decided to rework the champion in 2023, giving him new Q, E, and R abilities.
This rework saw the champion skyrocket in win rate, so Riot slowly nerfed him down to size. Until now the champion barely saw any play due to his low numbers, until a recent mini-rework in Patch 14.3. Once again Aurelion Sol surged in win rate, eventually being hotfix nerfed, causing players to claim he’s worse than before his mini-rework.
LoL players lash out at devs after hotfix Aurelion Sol nerfs
League of Legends players are claiming that the hotfixed Aurelion Sol is currently weaker than his pre-update version, making the entire point of his mini-rework pointless.
“His W went from 14/15.5/17/18.5/20% pre patch to 18/20/22/24/26% and now 8/9/10/11/12% post hotfix,” the player listed. “All while losing his E stacking, his Q also gives only 2 stacks instead of the 3. Riot special, champ is probably worse than prepatch.”

Aurelion Sol’s ability to farm with Q was reduced, and his damage with Q while using W was more than halved with the hotfix.
“What in the holy f**k, u can’t make this sh** up” another user complained.
“I’m convinced they’re just rolling the dice at this point,” one player claimed.
With the patch only being out for a day or two, there’s no telling if these nerfs will completely destroy Aurelion Sol, but players are certainly convinced it will. We’ll be sure to track the situation over the coming days.
