In the wake of Riot Games’ League of Legends Netflix show, Arcane, fans both old and new will be able to dive into Ruined King, a League of Legends-inspired turn-based RPG created by Riot Forge.
Fans have been calling for a LoL RPG for many years, so the game is engulfed in a huge amount of hype. Centering around the fearsome Viego, six heroes are tasked with bringing the spectral tyrant to his knees.

Ruined King: A League of Legends story release date
This highly anticipated RPG released alongside Riot Forge’s musical extravaganza, Hextech Mayhem, on November 16.
If you’re looking to start your adventure in style, though, be sure to purchase the game within 30 days from its release, as you’ll score the fearsome Manamune sword for everyone’s favorite mid-laner, Yasuo.
Ruined King: A League of Legends story platforms
Unlike League of Legends, the Ruined King is available on a whole plethora of different platforms. You can pick it up for Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC (via Steam, GOG.com and the Epic Games Store.)
Thankfully for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S users, the game will be releasing in the future. While there’s no set date given, Riot Forge have confirmed that PS4 and Xbox One users will be able to upgrade the game for free.

Released all the way back on Halloween of 2020, the Announcement trailer shows off our merry band of heroes tear through the streets of an unsuspecting Bilgewater. After a bar brawl or two, we see the heroes take to the high seas in order to take on the Ruined King himself in the heart of the Shadow Isles.

Gameplay trailer
The title’s gameplay trailer shows off the stunning in-game graphics, as well as the comic-book style narrative design. Completely turn based, it introduces our six heroes and shows off their prowess on the battlefield.
Ruined King: A League of Legends Story gameplay
At the heart of the Ruined King is its turn-based gameplay. This means that one character will move, then another, and then another. Reminiscent of the old Final Fantasy games, each fight will require you to strategically dominate your enemies now just with physical strength, but mental ability.
You’ll be able to play as six of Runeterra’s most iconic champions, forming a ragtag band of heroes that are hell bent on causing chaos:
- Ahri
- Braum
- Illaoi
- Miss Fortune
- Pyke
- Yasuo

Riot Forge have announced three different versions of the Ruined King, each of which come with their own special perks:
- Standard ($29.99/£22) – Base game, and Yasuo Manamune sword (if bought within first 30 days of release)
- Deluxe ($39.99/£30) – Base game, Ruined Skins for each character, Ruination Starter Pack & more
- Collector’s Edition ($129.99/£97) – Art Book, Exclusive Joe Madureira Sketch, 12” Vinyl Soundtrack, Cloth Map of Bilgewater, Notebook & Pen and Bilgewater Mug.
