Select users will have a second chance to play the new League of Legends-inspired digital card game from Riot Games, Legends of Runeterra, as another preview patch opens from November 14 to November 19.
Riot Games is offering a second chance at a first glance at their new card game, Legends of Runeterra
Runeterra was debuted during the League 10 anniversary show, along with a plethora of other new games from the publisher and developer, and registered players were given just less than a week to test it out.
But now players are getting another short week to play the game some more, starting at 8AM PST/11AM EST on November 14 and running until November 19.
How can I play the second preview patch?
In order to have a chance to play on this second preview patch, you must pre-register on the Legends of Runeterra website. Pre-registration requires a Riot Games account, so sign in when prompted, or create an account if you don’t have one already.
Whether or not your account has access, you will have a prompt to download the Legends of Runeterra client. Unlike Teamfight Tactics, which is a game mode that is played through the traditional League of Legends client, Runeterra is a separate game with its own client.

If you don’t have access right away, simply wait for the email from Riot Games confirming your granted access. If you do have access, download the installer, open the client, sign in, and then hit play. Then you can try out the new game mode, Expedition.
What is Expedition?
Expedition is a new game mode making its debut here in the second preview patch. It is a draft style mode similar to the Arena in Hearthstone, where competing players will build a deck from scratch round-by-round. The cards that appear in later rounds are adaptive to the cards you select early on.
Second preview patch players will be given one expedition token and 8000 shards when they log in and play during the patch. This will allow players to have enough resources to participate in all the different expeditions that offer rewards, even if they didn’t play the game during the first preview patch.
I didn’t get access. When can I play Legends of Runeterra?
Tough break there, but keep your head up, you won’t have to wait long. Riot will have a closed beta in the first quarter of 2020, where the game will assumably be open longer than the preview patch weeks.
Even more players will be invited, and ranked queue will be available, as well as new boards and guardians. The full launch will be in 2020, and is slated to released on mobile as well.
