War Room is a brand-new land card releasing in MTG Universes Beyond: Fallout that rewards playing mono-colored decks.
Murders at Karlov Manor is all set for its highly anticipated launch now that all of its spoilers have arrived. But no sooner has one MTG set’s spoilers been revealed than another one begins to spring leaks.
A new MTG Universes Beyond: Fallout card has been discovered, its details leaking earlier than Wizards had planned. War Room is set to be a release promo for this Fallout-themed set, and it covers some interesting Commander design space for a land card.
With Universes Beyond: Fallout’s release coming up soon on March 8, we’ll walk you through how this revealed card works and weigh up whether it should get you excited for the full set’s release.
What is Universes Beyond: Fallout?
Universes Beyond: Fallout is the next iteration of MTG’s smash-hit crossover series. Recent sets like Tales of Middle Earth and Doctor Who have gone down extremely well among hardcore fans and new players alike.
Featuring Commander decks based on many iconic elements of the franchise, from unethical science to marauding mutants, Universes Beyond: Fallout is looking to appeal to a wide a variety of Fallout fans as possible. There’s something on display for everyone here, from dedicated fans of the original isometric RPGs to newer survival-based entries like Fallout 76.
While a small number of cards have already been revealed for the set, the overwhelming popularity of the Fallout franchise means fans are on edge waiting for more news. Finally, they’ve got it, though from less-than-official sources.

Reddit user jess_alakasam caught that the previously-unrevealed card had been listed on eBay, and quickly brought it to the attention of the MTG fandom.
How War Room works in MTG
War Room is a land that can be tapped for a colorless mana. It also has a secondary effect wherein players may pay 3 generic mana, and also pay life equal to the number of colors in their Commander’s color identity. They may then draw a card.
Having access to reliable draw on a land is a great boon for Universes Beyond: Fallout players. However, as each of the decks comes with a Commander utilizing three colors of mana, the additional life cost may be somewhat steep. As a result, War Room may work best when splashed into other Commander decks outside of Universes Beyond: Fallout.
Some decks have mana in abundance but precious little draw power, and that’s where War Room will be suited best. Its colorless mana will work well in the early game and to pay additional late-game costs, but the longer a match goes on for, the more appeal its reliable draw power will be.
While MTG fans have been somewhat put off by the seemingly incessant rate of card spoilers recently, this one really can’t be laid at Wizards of the Coast’s feet. Thankfully, only one card from Universes Beyond: Fallout has leaked ahead of time, and players have plenty of time to prepare for the set’s full launch on March 8.
