Minecraft will be introducing Add-ons to the Marketplace, meaning players can mod their world as they see fit, right from the game itself.
Mods are a pivotal part of Minecraft, and many players can’t live without them. Whether they completely overhaul the crafting system, add new mods, or even brand new realms to explore, mods can help inspire creativity, and make the game what many know and love.
Now, Mojang has taken inspiration from these successes, and is now introducing Add-ons to the Minecraft Marketplace, allowing fans to add those new mobs, recipes, items, portals, and so much more from inside the game.
Minecraft introduces Add-ons to Marketplace for your current world
Working much like mods, the new Minecraft Marketplace Add-ons will allow you to change the way things look and behave in your world. What’s more, you can add these to any existing world you choose, so there’s no need to create a whole new adventure to add any features.

While there will certainly be more Add-ons available as the feature fully rolls out, players can look forward to Gravestones, new portals, pets, furniture, blocks, and almost anything you can think of joining the game. On top of that, only the world host will need access to the Add-on, so you’ll be able to enjoy the features with ease.
The Add-ons will be joining the Minecraft Marketplace from February 20 and will work in a similar way to traditional Snapshots, where players can test them out and provide feedback to Mojang, so expect plenty more to arrive in the future.
It’s also worth noting that Mojang has no plans to remove other third-party non-Marketplace mods, so you can still enjoy those on your chosen worlds while exploring all the new content that’s scheduled to be released to the Minecraft Marketplace.
