NetherRealm Studios has finally added the ability to pin moves in Mortal Kombat 1 and here’s how the feature works.
Since pinning moves was a popular feature in Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11, many fans assumed it would return in NetherRealm’s newest release without issue. They were wrong.
MK1 launched without the ability to pin moves, but players didn’t let developers forget how badly they wanted the functionality to return.
As the name suggests, pinning moves allows users to tag their character’s combos, so they’ll appear on screen during the match.
It’s a helpful tool benefiting both novice and skilled players, and it’s, thankfully, been reinstated following a recent Mortal Kombat 1 patch.
Here’s how to pin moves in Mortal Kombat 1
On October 23, 2023, NetherRealm rolled out MK1 Version 0.134 on consoles, adding bug fixes, balance changes, and the ability to pin moves to the game’s HUD.

Players can access this feature once a match has begun by opening the menu and heading to the Move List page. From there, a total of 10 combos can be tagged with the press of a button (Triangle on PS5 or Y on Xbox).
This applies to Basic Attacks, Special Moves, Finishers, and even Kameo attacks. Selected moves will receive a black star next to them in the Move List, then appear below the character’s health bar when the fight starts back up.
Players can utilize Mortal Kombat 1’s new pin moves feature across several modes, including Towers, Practice, Online, and Invasions.
And, notably, whatever combos a user has favorited in one mode will transfer if they switch to a different game mode.
