Mortal Kombat 1 presents players with a new generation of gore fest. While the core gameplay of this brand-new title has hit the ground running, here is a look at the microtransaction side of the game.
Most AAA titles in the current day and age feature microtransactions in them. In fact, it is quite rare when a game does not feature in-game purchases. However, there are titles that do not feature a single trace of microtransactions.
Therefore, it is natural for players to question whether Mortal Kombat 1 has micro-transactions or not. In case it does, to what extent and whether it has any form of pay-to-win practice.
As it happens, here is a guide on everything you need to know regarding micro-transactions in NetherRelam Studios‘ latest entry.
Does Mortal Kombat 1 have microtransactions?
Yes, Mortal Kombat 1 has microtransactions. However, there are quite a few things you need to consider before jumping to any conclusion.
The premium currency of the game that you need to buy using real money is called Dragon Krystals. These can be purchased from the store and can be used to buy skins for the various characters.

There are also two other types of currency- the silver and gold coins. Both the silver and gold coins can be obtained by simply playing the game and completing daily quests. The gold coin can be used in the shrine where you will have a chance of obtaining a variety of materials.
The silver coin can be used at the store to purchase seasonal items. These seasonal items can be found in the store itself but are different from the other premium items that need to be purchased through Dragon Krystals. In other words, seasonal items are free to play as long as you are grinding the game daily.
Lastly, the invasions mode does not feature any micro-transaction or pay-to-win model either, but you can obtain a featured skin upon playing through it.
