Season 1‘s release has expanded the MultiVersus roster and our tier list has everything you need to choose the right Fighters for both 1v1 and 2v2 game modes.
Currently, MultiVersus’ roster features a total of 26 characters and more are to be released soon. The game has two modes – 1v1 and 2v2, and the efficiency of these Fighters differ from mode to mode. While some perform better solo, others excel after teaming up.
Their unique skill sets either prove their melee prowess or make them unstoppable from a range. Whatever game mode you choose, opting for the right character according to the best-suited playstyle is key.
For our MultiVersus tier list, we’ve broken down each Fighter from best to worst for both game modes, so if you’re wondering which one to choose, we’ve got all of the information you need.
MultiVersus tier list: Best characters for 2v2 mode
All MultiVersus fighters are sorted from S to C tiers. This means S-tier characters are superior and the best ones you can choose, while C-tier will include the characters that are better to avoid in competitive matches.
Here is a short-hand for how each tier breakdown:
- S: The best Fighters in MultiVersus
- A: Very good Fighters offering an alternative to other options
- B: There might be situations where these Fighters can perform well
- C: Avoid unless you find yourself drawn to them
If you want to jump straight to the 1v1 tier list, you can do it from here.
S-Tier MultiVersus characters
The Fighters mentioned in the table below are some of the best to compete in matches.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Batman | Bruiser |
Bugs Bunny | Mage/Ranged |
Finn | Assassin |
Jason | Tank |
Rick | Mage |
Velma | Mage/Ranged |
Batman‘s perks allow him to be an unstoppable force as he can break armor and stop enemies from using armor briefly. Jason is the new Tank in Season 1 and he can weaken enemies while you have at least 100 damage.
Bugs Bunny has a great passive ability. When he’s crouched, he can spawn a random item to knock out an enemy. Finn uses coins to boost his backpack attacks and can move while charging attacks on the ground.
Rick can drop Fart Bombs that hits enemies upward while on the ground while Velma can pick up Evidence to fill the meter and call the Mystery Machine to grab the nearest enemy and throw them off the map.
A-Tier MultiVersus characters
Now comes the characters who are almost at the level of the S-tier characters but failed by a whisker. However, don’t let the tier deceive you. The Fighters mentioned in the table below can still knock the opponents out of the platform.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Jake the Dog | Bruiser |
LeBron James | Bruiser |
Shaggy | Bruiser |
Superman | Tank |
Tom & Jerry | Mage/Ranged |
The Joker | Mage/Ranged |
Wonder Woman | Tank |
Jake the Dog kicks several times while moving forward which can be a good combo move with another S-Tier Fighter to throw enemies off the arena. LeBron James‘ passive gives him a basketball which after hitting an enemy will give him an alley-oop dunk.
Shaggy is a great choice for 2v2 as his Raged attacks hit much harder and give him armor. Superman as a tank can dodge upward from the ground, giving him good ground clearance from enemies. Tom & Jerry work together as a team to take enemies down.
The Joker was introduced in Season 1 and he can throw out a card Projectile that sticks to opponents before exploding. Wonder Woman‘s Bracer Meter helps to power her Amazon Shout up to knock back enemies.
B-Tier MultiVersus characters
B-tier characters are generally average and it’s no different for MultiVersus. The ones mentioned in the table below are not too effective in 2v2 but they can be good options when paired up with S or A tier Fighters.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Arya Stark | Assassin |
Banana Guard | Bruiser |
Garnet | Bruiser |
Gizmo | Mage/Ranged |
Harley Quinn | Assassin |
Morty | Bruiser |
Reindog | Mage/Ranged |
Stripe | Assassin |
Tazmanian Devil | Bruiser |

Arya Stark‘s Backstab passive deals increased melee damage while Banana Guard can stab forward three times rapidly. Garnet‘s Crystal Combo unleashes a combo of punches and you can direct the last punch to knock off an enemy.
Gizmo has the Time to Listen passive which applies a Music buff and affected enemies get silenced. Harley Quinn‘s Confetti Time! ignites enemies after multiple knockbacks. Morty‘s passive ability is lethal as it deploys Grenades that will detonate shortly after being thrown. If timed properly, an explosion can knock out enemies.
Reindog can perform swipes and headbutts, which is great for 2v2 mode, and combine it with Stripe‘s Grudgeholder, the attack can be lethal. Taz‘s Bottomless Pit cooks enemies that make them take more damage.
C-Tier MultiVersus characters
If you want to maximize your chances of winning a 2v2 match, avoid these Fighters. Similar to the B-tier characters, they can also be an option to match with that of the superior tiers. But then again, they are not very effective.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Black Adam | Bruiser |
Marvin the Martian | Assassin |
Iron Giant | Tank |
Steven Universe | Tank |
Black Adam‘s knockback ability can be useful but only in selected scenarios. Marvin the Martian can walk while crouching which can be useful to dodge a ranged attack.
Iron Giant can double fly while Steven Universe‘s bubble acts as armor, but these abilities are mostly situational.
MultiVersus tier list: Best characters for 1v1 mode
Now let’s look at some of those characters that can prove to be a great choice in the 1v1 mode. As the tiers fall, the efficiency of the characters also gets lessened.
S-Tier characters
Bugs Bunny and Finn are equally useful in both 1v1 and 2v2 game modes. They are quite well-rounded as fighters and their character roles play a crucial role during clutch situations. Harley Quinn can also prove to be a worthy replacement for Finn, but the choice is yours.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Batman | Bruiser |
Bugs Bunny | Mage/Ranged |
Finn | Assassin |
Harley Quinn | Assassin |
Jason | Tank |
Rick | Mage/Ranged |
A-Tier characters
In the A-tier, some of the top choices are Velma, LeBron, The Joker, and Tom & Jerry. They are a significant challenge to the ones in the S-tier and can often pull off a victory when it’s the least expected. Jake and Taz are some worthy replacements for LeBron James.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Jake the Dog | Bruiser |
LeBron James | Bruiser |
Shaggy | Bruiser |
Tom & Jerry | Mage/Ranged |
The Joker | Mage/Ranged |
Velma | Mage/Ranged |
Wonder Woman | Tank |
B-Tier characters
Similar to 2v2, the B-tier characters for 1v1 are not recommended. If you want to have fun and see how the other characters play in the game, you may opt to choose them.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Arya Stark | Assassin |
Banana Guard | Bruiser |
Black Adam | Bruiser |
Gizmo | Mage/Ranged |
Morty | Bruiser |
Reindog | Mage/Ranged |
Stripe | Assassin |
Superman | Tank |
Tazmanian Devil | Bruiser |
Now that Morty has landed in the multiverse, and while we await the addition of Rick down the line, here’s a bunch of Morty’s easter eggs that you can find inside the game.
C-Tier characters
Try to avoid the characters in this tier as much as possible for the 1v1 mode. They can be a great duo in the more popular modes but are not optimal for going solo.
Character Name | Character Role |
---|---|
Garnet | Bruiser |
Iron Giant | Tank |
Marvin the Martian | Assassin |
Steven Universe | Tank |
