A split could be on the horizon for Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears. Several teams have been linked to the star quarterback, but which ones make the most sense in a potential trade?
The Bears sit atop the NFL Draft board for the second consecutive offseason. Last year, the front office traded out of the top spot, recouping several draft assets and adding superstar wideout D.J. Moore in the process.
In 13 regular season games, Fields posted career highs in completion percentage and passing yards while also dropping his interception rate to a respectable 2.4 percent in 2023. The dual-threat signal-caller won five games as the starter.
Unfortunately for the Chicago fan base, this wasn’t enough to propel the team to a higher placement in the 2024 NFL Draft order. At number one overall yet again, many around the league have begun questioning Fields’ future in the Windy City.
Five teams that should trade for Bears quarterback Justin Fields
According to reports, the Bears are seeking a first-round pick for the former Ohio State standout. Chicago would also consider a deal centered around a second-rounder and another late-round selection. A handful of teams could satisfy the trade demands and fit Fields under the salary cap for 2024 and 2025.
Pittsburgh Steelers
The Steelers are the “leader in the clubhouse,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Head coach Mike Tomlin is said to have an affinity for Fields, and Pittsburgh will be actively searching for an upgrade at quarterback after Kenny Pickett has failed to impress the franchise.

New England Patriots
The Patriots own a top-three pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, which could put them out of range for Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. New England could instead use the third pick to add to the roster and trade other selections to bring Fields in. They were connected to the talented passer during the 2021 draft.
Atlanta Falcons
Another team linked to Fields out of college was the Falcons. The franchise ultimately chose Kyle Pitts instead, but with a void at quarterback, perhaps general manager Terry Fontenot will get another chance at bringing Fields to Atlanta this offseason. They have the picks and cap space to pull it off.
Seattle Seahawks
The Seahawks are only a year removed from postseason play. Geno Smith is under contract for 2024 and 2025, but Seattle can void the deal this offseason if they view Fields as a higher-upside option at quarterback.
Las Vegas Raiders
The Raiders currently have fourth-round pick Aidan O’Connell at quarterback, and that is it. If the front office doesn’t want to move up at the NFL Draft, trading for Fields could unlock a new dimension for an offense featuring All-Pros Davante Adams and Josh Jacobs.
