Justin Fields has been the subject of constant trade rumors over the past two years. On Wednesday, Fields explained why he recently unfollowed the Chicago Bears on Instagram.
The Bears traded up during the 2021 NFL Draft to secure the Ohio State superstar as their supposed quarterback of the future.
In three seasons as the team’s starter, Justin Fields boasts a 10-28 record. His completion percentage has steadily improved, turnovers were at a career low in 2023, and he has shown himself to be a significant threat as a runner, logging over 2,200 yards on the ground and 14 rushing touchdowns in his career.
Chicago even won four of its final six games this past regular season. However, the team holds the top selection at the 2024 NFL Draft anyway, thanks to a savvy trade last off-season with the Panthers.
While fans are still wondering whether or not Fields gets moved, the young signal-caller lit social media on fire earlier this week, leading to more speculation on the trade front.

Fields appeared on The 33rd Team podcast hosted by Amon-Ra St. Brown and Equanimeous St. Brown to discuss the rumor. “I am glad we are talking about it. Why do people take social media so serious?”
Amon-Ra asked with a smirk, “But, like, why are you not following the Bears?” Fields replied, “I still mess with the Bears! I unfollowed the Bears and the NFL. I’m not just trying to have football on my timeline.”
Fields then said to the St. Brown brothers, “I know when y’all mess with a girl, just because you don’t follow her on IG doesn’t mean you’re not messing with them.”
He continued, “I’m about to go on vacation and don’t want to see [any] football. Every Bears post is either ‘Keep Fields’ or ‘We want Caleb.’ I’m tired of hearing the talk.”
As he admitted on Wednesday, the trade discourse around Justin Fields has negatively impacted him off the field. But the 24-year-old says he can’t see himself playing for any other franchise.
