NFL Pro Bowl weekend is a rare opportunity for fans to get to know the personalities under the helmets. This time around, we get to know some of their all-time favorite Disney characters.
In the Pro Bowl skills challenge, players competed without helmets, giving them a chance to showcase how similar they are to everyday people — aside from the absurd size and athleticism, of course.
The league put out a series of questions for players to answer, and one in particular stood out to the passionate Disney fandom.
NFL Pro Bowlers name favorite Disney characters
There are over a thousand named characters in the Disney universe, so zeroing in on a “favorite” is often tricky for fans. But these NFL Pro Bowlers wasted little time selecting their favorites when asked.
Tyreek Hill, WR, Dolphins — Goofy (Goof Troop)
Hill says his favorite Disney Character is Goofy because he’s “clumsy a little bit, but also funny though.”
“That’s me, baby,” Hill said while walking away.
Justin Simmons, DB, Broncos — Simba (The Lion King)
Simmons opted for one of the most famous movie characters — Simba from The Lion King. As the mascot for one of the more beloved Disney films, seeing the ferocious lion on the list is no surprise.
Raheem Mostert, RB, Dolphins — Pluto (Mickey Mouse)
Mostert went with an old-school cartoon by naming Pluto as his favorite character. Primarily known as Mickey Mouse’s pet dog, Pluto has a devoted fan base amongst diehard Disney fans.

Evan Engram, TE, Jaguars — Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story)
Engram names Buzz Lightyear as his favorite Disney Character because he’s from outer space and is “probably the coolest toy” in Toy Story.
Few will argue with Engram about how awesome Buzz is in the Toy Story franchise.
Stefon Diggs, WR, Bills — Stitch (Lilo & Stitch)
Diggs chose a somewhat newer character, naming Stitch from the movie “Lilo & Stitch” as his favorite. Stitch’s humor and compassionate nature stick with viewers and make him a fan favorite amongst the Disney community.
Gardner Minshew, QB, Colts — Belle (Beauty and the Beast)
Minshew chose Belle from Beauty and the Beast as his favorite Disney character because she “has a mind of her own, and she ain’t easily intimidated.”
The Colts’ backup quarterback is known for thinking outside the box and going against the norm. Hearing Minshew pick Belle might be surprising on the surface, but the veteran explained his stance perfectly in the video.
The Pro Bowl allows fans a closer look at NFL players
Seeing who these Pro Bowlers view as their favorite Disney characters adds a never-before-seen side of the players. One that is far too often missing.
It shows that even though these players are celebrities, at the end of the day, they are human beings, just like the fans who watch them on the TV screen.
