RunAway have confirmed that all of their players will join the Overwatch League.
Though no details regarding their new team or teams have been revealed, all of the Contenders Korea Season Two champions will appear in Season Two of the Overwatch League.
As the most popular and successful team outside of the Overwatch League, many fans have been waiting with bated breath for confirmation that they would see the players on the game’s biggest stage at last, after RunAway was surprisingly passed over entirely ahead of Season One.
RunAway aren’t just fan-favorites for their success, however. The bedroom organization with the pink jerseys made for a compelling underdog in OGN’s APEX, with tales of popular streamer couple Runner and Flowervin, who owned and managed the team, paying out of their own pocket to provide for the team attracting fans globally.
In fact, for most of their history RunAway has been known as the team that could never quite cross the finish line in big tournaments. They were thrust into the spotlight by reaching the finals of APEX Season Two, and subsequently made the finals of the Nexus Cup, APEX Season four, and APAX Premier 2017, all without collecting a trophy.

In Season One of Contenders Korea, RunAway fell out in the semi-finals, but in Season Two they finally claimed the victory they’ve been chasing for so long. Now, it seems the players will set themselves a new goal to pursue as they head to the Overwatch League.
Though no details have yet been announced regarding their destination. While it’s possible the players might be splitting up, rumors have suggested there was plenty of interest in signing them together, with the new Vancouver franchise the most commonly-cited in connection with the RunAway squad.
Signing RunAway’s full squad would arguably be the best way for a new team to jump straight into contention in the upper echelons for Season Two of the league. With RunAway being the champions of the strongest region there will be high expectations if they stick together, and signing Korean champions is also the strategy that helped build London Spitfire’s victorious Season One roster.
