Overwatch 2 players were reporting waves of bots taking over their games and making matches a complete nightmare.
Just when you thought Overwatch 2: Invasion was just for Season 6, it seems like another attack has begun – this time in the form of bot accounts that don’t do much aside from throw games.
The ranked system in Overwatch 2 has been under a lot of scrutiny since its launch, with many players complaining about needing to get five wins to get a placement update, the removal of SR, and matchmaking.
While Blizzard has promised to revamp ranked, with details finally coming at BlizzCon, a new issue has players growing increasingly frustrated and demanding answers.
Overwatch 2 bot accounts make matches “unplayable”
Across the Competitive Overwatch subreddit, numerous threads popped up where users voiced their anger at waves of bot accounts appearing on their team as well as enemy squads.
One player explained that the bots aren’t exactly Terminators, but they will feed their brains out and completely ruin matches if you get them on your team.
“They move weird, they hard feed, and they never get over 1k damage or healing. Thankfully they’ve always been on the enemy team so I get a free win, but I don’t know why they even exist?” the user remarked.

Another revealed that they had games where a full five-stack of bots queued together and had the stats to prove it. As you can see, they had numerous deaths across the board with just a single elimination between them.
“I’ve had 12 diff bots in my games in the last 2-3 hours,” the user said. “One game had a full 5 stack of bots on the enemy team. All with Bnet default names, default icons, no player titles. One game had 4 bots on the enemy team with 1 random solo player.”
They added in another thread, “The real Overwatch Bot Invasion is happening right now. Even more Bot reports. The game is unplayable for me and a lot of people on Bahrain/GSG servers right now. Every single game has bots.”
Some users have suggested that the bots are designed to farm accounts that start in bronze or simply get access to ranked, which would make sense as smurfing remains an ongoing challenge for Blizzard.
So far, the OW2 devs have yet to address the issue, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated if they make a statement.
