The Legend of Zelda is one of the most beloved franchises in gaming history and series protagonist Link has been an icon in the industry since NES era. Bringing Link to the Overwatch universe and art style is no easy task, but a team of five people made it happen.

Every nook and cranny of the Nintendo character’s figure is quite well done with the grooves and texture on the shield, in particular, standing out.

What’s more, is the video also includes a series of Play of the Game highlights that are sure to impress both fans of Overwatch and The Legend of Zelda.

NintendoThe Ocarina of Time version of Link is very iconic.

In the first highlight intro, the hero uses utilizes his powerful charged sword attack. Near the end of the animation the video slows down for dramatic effect.

The second shows Link digging into a chest – an iconic Zelda motif, before pulling a rupee out of it and holding it above his head. This series trope has existed in many Zelda games with Ocarina of Time being the first time this animation was brought to life in 3D.

The third has Link using his shield to block incoming fire as he charges his sword like in the first highlight and then zooms forward weapon in hand towards his attackers on the second point of Eichenwalde.

Finally, the end tune merges both the Zelda music and Overwatch theme into a sharp remixed version. It’s then revealed that five different people worked on this animation project.

Those five people are Jeremy Vitry, Aaron Walker, Stéphane Vidélo, Philémon Belhomme, and Etienne Pov.

While it’s unlikely we will actually see Link in Overwatch, the hero certainly does have enough items in his kit – bombs, Hookshot, boomerang, and Deku nuts with some luck we could be seeing an Overwatch hero in Super Smash Bros Ultimate. With that comes a chance to see Link in action against a member of the Overwatch cast.
