An Overwatch player has created a game mode in the Workshop inspired by Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.
The new Workshop feature gives players more power than ever before to create their own custom games and even prototype new heroes.
Though the Workshop is currently only available on the Public Test Realm (PTR), players are already showing off their creativity with the feature, both recreating classic modes from other games in Overwatch and also coming up with their own unique modes.
One player, u/kaiomm, has used the Workshop to create a mode inspired by the most recent Avengers films, Infinity War and Endgame, which revolve around the battle for control of six objects of immense power, the Infinity Stones.
The game mode by u/kaiomm lets players take part in an Infinity War of their own. Six “Infinity Stones” are placed around the map that players can collect, each of which offers an additional power.

- Time Stone – increases movement speed
- Soul Stone – grants health regeneration
- Power Stone – increases damage
- Mind Stone – reduces damage taken
- Space Stone – reduced personal gravity
- Reality Stone – deals AOE damage to nearby players
The aim of the game is, of course to collect the infinity stones. Any stones being carried by a player show up above their head, and killing a player who has stones grants you one of them, while the others will scatter across the map.
Once a player collects all six stones, they must hold onto them for 30 seconds, during which time they are revealed to everyone else on the map. If the holder is able to survive that long, they will automatically “snap”, winning the game.
As it stands, this game mode features a Deathmatch, a free-for-all in which the only objective is to kill other players. It could certainly be interesting, however, to see how the addition of an Infinity Stones mechanic like this could change the dynamic of larger team maps with other objectives to fight for as well.
