Blizzard has released a stop-motion video celebrating the two-year anniversary of the release of Overwatch.
The video, titled “Trace and Bake”, sees Tracer and Reaper figurines come to life in the absence of their owner, before Tracer blinks off to bake a cake in celebration of Overwatch’s birthday.
Stop-motion is a refreshing take on showing off the characters of Overwatch, with previous features coming in the form of incredibly demanding – and therefore infrequent – animated shorts, or simply using clips from the game itself, which is naturally far more limited in scope.
The video is part of a series of celebrations for the anniversary, most of which will be taking place in-game. The Anniversary event will feature a huge amount of content, both introducing new skins and a new map as well as bringing back previous event skins and Brawls.

As well as the stop-motion video itself, Blizzard also released a behind-the-scenes video which gives a fascinating look at how the project came about and the work that went into creating the final video.
The Overwatch Anniversary in-game event will begin on May 22, and last until June 11.
