On January 20, the Florida Mayhem parted ways with Assistant Coach Hyun-jin “r2der” Choi and one former Mayhem player, Johan “CWoosH” Klingestedt, has praised the move saying r2der was one of the most difficult coaches he ever worked with.
R2der joined the Mayhem as an assistant coach just after Stage One last year, and the team went 6-24 with him on staff. Overall, the team had a 7-33 record during the Overwatch League’s Inaugural Season.
The Mayhem have made some big changes in the offseason, like parting with the majority of their Season One roster, and now releasing r2der just a few weeks before the start of Season Two.
Now that r2der is gone, Cwoosh took to Twitter to voice his opinion on his former coach.
“The decision to let R2der go is one of the best decisions Mayhem has done,” Cwoosh said. “He was lazy, arrogant and didn’t care for his players, traits that a coach shouldn’t have.”
“The one thing I’ve learned from R2der, is how to not coach,” Cwoosh, who now coached Finnish Contender’s squad Team Gigantti, added.

Team Gigantti recently won the Contenders Europe 2018 Season 3 finals, so it seems like Cwoosh learned a lot about how not to coach from r2der.
Cwoosh isn’t the only former Mayhem player to speak out r2der’s coaching style. In a Twitch clip from shortly after he was released by the Mayhem last year, Andreas ‘Logix’ Berghmans (who now plays for the XL2 Contenders team) described how r2der would coach, or rather, refuse to coach Mayhem players.
The Florida Mayhem’s 2019 season starts on Friday, February 15 when they take on the Atlanta Reign.
