All Overwatch 2 heroes now unlocked for free
All of Overwatch 2’s heroes, including newer and older heroes, are free and have already been unlocked in everybody’s account.
This massive shakeup came with the introduction of Season 10 and the release of Venture. Where the devs made the big announcement that all future and current heroes, starting with Venture, will be free.
The change was already teased months prior, but it truly came to fruition with the arrival of Season 10.

So to unlock all the heroes in Overwatch 2, you simply have to log in, and you will automatically have all the heroes unlocked. If you want to make sure, you can go to your Heroes tab to check it.
Before Season 10’s update, you had to unlock certain heroes through either completing challenges or for the newest heroes, buy the Battle Pass if you wanted access to them in the Season.
Roughly half of the legacy roster was already unlocked, with the other half being locked behind hero challenges. Heroes that were released in Overwatch 2 were usually locked behind the Battle Pass upon release, or behind hero challenges the season after release.
But now, it’s all free, and for the foreseeable future, all future heroes will be free as well.
