Prop Hunt is back with a new map in the Lunar New Year event and some players have shared some tricks to secure a win.
First introduced in Overwatch 2 Season 5 as Mischief and Magic, the Prop Hunt limited-time game mode quickly became a favourite among players as it offers them the chance to utilize their creativity when it comes to finding an object to disguise as and securing a good hiding spot.
The game pits a team of Genjis whose job is to rule out “suspicious” objects against Kirikos, who can transform into different things and move around the map throughout the match.
Since then, players have found interesting strats to hide. From hiding in plain sight as a giant shark to disguising themselves as a flower on top of a statue, the community seems to be far from running out of ideas.
Now that the game mode is back in the Lunar New Year event, players are back to enjoying it, and it’s safe to say that the chaos continues. A player has posted their clip on Reddit, showcasing their sneaky hiding strat in the Blizzard World map.
Titled “The new Prop Hunt game mode is 5D chess,” the clip started with the player disguising himself as one of the rides in Blizzard World. But that’s not all. Instead of staying in one spot, he’d move according to the rail track, just like the actual ride on this map.

Every once in a while, some of the Genjis would check out and walk around this spot, looking for the source of Kiriko’s voiceline. Unfortunately, the OP eventually became the last player standing and got eliminated. However, that didn’t stop this clip from garnering the attention of other players.
“I’m crying omg this is too fucking funny. I’m going to try this at some point,” one person said. On the other hand, some players tried to warn others that this is quite hard to pull off, as you’d have to mimic the real cart’s movement perfectly.
Meanwhile, in a different thread, another player posted a clip showing off their strat in the new Prop Hunt map, Lijiang Tower. Instead of attempting to blend in with the map, the player took a more straightforward approach by simply placing themself in a spot that’s impossible for the Genjis to reach.
Disguising as what seemed like a board, the player perfectly positioned themself onto a wall that led whoever approached them to fall to their doom. “That is so goddamn evil,” one person commented.
Prop Hunt is only available for a limited time, so if you’re keen on trying it out, hop on Overwatch 2 and earn rewards from the event while you’re at it.
