Overwatch 2’s latest game mode, Clash, was released in Season 12. So far, players have one major gripe with it that should be an easy fix for the developers.
Clash has five total objectives and sees two teams battle for control of these areas, awarding points to teams that capture them. Each match starts with the center objective activating, and then when one side captures the first point, another activates closer to the enemy’s spawn.
The first team to earn five points wins.
Players have managed to find one simple flaw in the game mode so far, which is that teams earn points for capturing the area closest to their spawn. This means some matches end with one team dominating space in front of their enemy’s base, but still losing the game due to the point system.
“Nothing more frustrating than losing without a single capture point being on your side of the map,” one Overwatch player said on Reddit.
Overwatch caster Kevin ‘AVRL’ Walker also pointed out that the current way Clash matches are shaking out is unsatisfying because of how points are doled out and the map’s layout.
“The final point is so easy to retake (by intentional design) that it is always a given a losing team should be able to retake their spawn,” AVRL said.

“It’s super anticlimactic once a team reaches 4 points, the opposite team mounts a comeback, fails to full cap last (by the design of the map) then the 4-point team retakes as designed for the map win.”
“Kinda sounds like the mode is inherently flawed. But still fixable,” another Reddit user said.
This flaw, while annoying, should be a simple fix for Blizzard. As AVRL and Overwatch players outlined on social media, all the developer needs to do is adjust the points given to teams for capturing the area closest to their spawn.
Some players suggested changing the points awarded for capturing this area to 0.5 instead of one. The Overwatch caster also suggested that capturing the area closest to your spawn when at four points should not result in earning a match-winning point.
Either fix would be a great addition to the Clash game mode, but so far, the devs have yet to confirm if any changes are in the works.
