Overwatch 2 players have pointed out similarities between the newest tank hero Mauga and Moji from rival hero shooter Paladins.
Blizzard’s hero shooter Overwatch 2 is all about the characters it prominently features. With heroes coming from all over the world, featuring different identities, visuals, and more, it’s important that players feel represented and see themselves in the characters on screen.
The developer’s most recent hero came in the form of Mauga, a massive muscley tank hailing from Samoa. The hero has come with a bit of a balancing issue for Blizzard, proving to be easily the strongest character in the game when he was launched to live servers. With a ridiculously high health pool, good damage, and more, he quickly crowded out the meta.
More recently Overwatch 2 players have been noticing a fair amount of similarities between Mauga and another character named Moji from Paladins.
Redditor ramawiththemantra showcased a clip of Moji gameplay from Paladins, revealing a character with dual-wielding weaponry. Ram made the case that both of the characters dual wield, with one weapon helping enable the other, similar to Mauga’s Incendiary and Volatile Chainguns.
“Both are dual weapon wielders, where one weapon enables the other to hit critical shots. Struggle from far away but are really good up close.” the Redditor explained.

Not only that but both Mauga and Moji share a similar charge and damage mitigation ability, with Moji also being able to set people on fire like Mauga. The only difference between the two is that Moji is not a tank.
One player commented that while being similar, Mauga is nowhere near as bad as what Moji used to be in Paladins.
“Mauga couldn’t even imagine being as annoying and oppressive as Moji was,” they stated.
Others simply spoke on how many Paladins and Overwatch characters share similarities, listing them off.
It’s uncertain if there is any correlation between the two characters, but players can definitely see the similarities of the pair.
