The Overwatch 2 developers have shared plans on the upcoming Roadhog and when players can expect to try it out.
Roadhog has been a very controversial tank since his release back in OW1 thanks to his ability to one-shot squishy heroes with his deadly hook combo and he’s been changed up quite a bit since.
Maintaining some of Hog’s power while not turning him into an ultimate charge battery for the enemy team has proven to be quite difficult, but in weeks ahead, he’s getting revamped more than he ever had before after months of teases.
In a new blog post, Game Director Aaron Keller confirmed when the rework would finally be coming while Executive Producer Jared Neuss hinted that the tank will be getting some buffs.
Roadhog rework planned for Overwatch 2 Season 7
According to Keller, the team has been keeping a close eye on Roadhog’s lackluster performance and now have a time set for his rework.
“We’re looking at Roadhog’s underperformance and targeting his rework for the midseason update in Season 7,” he said.

This means that Season 7 will feature two big revamps to heroes with Sombra already confirmed to receive a “lethal” rework when the season launches.
Additionally, Producer Jared Neuss wrote on Twitter/X that he agrees with the opinion that Roadhog needs some buffs, so that seems to be the direction the team will be taking.
Previously, Lead Hero Designer Alec Dawson had teased that Hog’s rework will make him less “selfish” so that may mean providing some utility to help assist teammates instead of going for picks on his own.
Season 7 won’t have a new hero, but with both Roadhog and Sombra getting significant changes and likely new abilities, it’ll be almost like having some new characters on the roster.
