Overwatch players have discovered a bug that impacts the range of Baptiste’s Regenerative Burst ability.
Baptiste arrived on the live Overwatch servers on March 19, giving the full player-base the chance to try him out in real matches.
Players are already discovering tricks and tactics with Overwatch’s 30 hero, but the greater exposure also seems to have turned up some bugs that the testing on the Public Test Realm (PTR) missed.
In particular, one bug has been identified which can determine whether or not Baptiste’s Regenerative Burst ability actually heals team-mates within a certain range.
Baptiste Healing Bug
Baptiste’s Regenerative Burst is supposed to be an area-of-effect ability. In theory, it doesn’t need to be targeted, it will simply heal any friendly players within a certain range – 10 meters, to be precise.

Bizarrely, it seems that there’s a bug with this ability, however, that means Baptiste’s aim actually impacts its effectiveness. If a team-mate is at the very edge of the effective radius, whether or not they get healed by the ability can depend on whether or not Baptiste is looking at them.
Overwatch streamer mL7 demonstrated that not only does Baptiste need to be facing in the right direction, but he actually needs to be aiming directly at the team-mate in question.
As his teammate uses Regenerative Burst in front of the streamer without looking at him, there’s no healing reaching mL7, but as soon as Baptiste looks up, his Pharah starts healing instantly.
As this seems like a clear bug it’s likely that Blizzard will look to fix it, but in the meantime Baptiste players may do well to remember that actually aiming at a particular team-mate might impact whether or not they benefit from the heal.
