D.Va is one of the most popular heroes in Overwatch, and her Micro Missiles can help turn the tide of a teamfight when used correctly.
D.Va’s Micro Missile ability fires 18 missiles over approximately 1.6 seconds and does a total of 126 damage if all the projectiles hit their mark.
They’re also able to damage D.Va if she gets too close and are able to be used at the same time as Defense Matrix.
Beyond the basics though, it can be tough to know exactly when and how to use the ability to its full potential, so Overwatch YouTuber Kappachino put together some helpful tips for how to get the most out of D.Va’s Micro Missiles.
Micro Missiles, not Cruise missiles
One of the best tips Kappachino shares seems like it would be really obvious and that’s to only use the ability at close range because, sure, that Widowmaker is annoying, but you probably won’t do much more than make her move away for a few seconds at a distance.
That tip also goes into Kappachino’s next point, which is to use the missiles while diving into enemy heroes, ideally starting when you’re roughly five meters away from your target.

Kappachino also suggests having a plan for what you’re going to use your micro missiles for and saving them, instead of just throwing them at the first enemy hero you spot.
He goes into a lot more detail on how to use the ability in a short YouTube video that explores the finer points of Micro Missile management.
What’s this about a D.Va nerf?
It’s true, D.Va’s Defense Matrix has been nerfed on the current PTR patch, reducing it’s range by a full third from 15 meters to 10.
“Defense Matrix is a very powerful defensive ability and can often feel oppressive from far away,” Overwatch developers said about the change. “Reducing the range on it will require D.Va to position herself more carefully to take advantage of its effects.”
This really makes you wonder if Blizzard gave players two new D.Va skins for the Anniversary event just to butter them up for the impending nerf.
