Overwatch’s Lunar New Year event is returning on Thursday, January 24 with all new sprays, emotes and skins celebrating the Year of the Pig.
The event will run for a little under a month and end on Monday, February 18, just after the first weekend of Overwatch League Season Two.
Lunar New Year celebrates traditional New Year festivities in several Asian countries, with the skins and other cosmetics reflecting that.

There’s still no word on any new skins, cosmetics, or game modes for Year of the Pig, but those should be coming out in the days leading up to the event.

Roadhog won’t be getting a pig skin though, because he already has his ‘Bajie’ skin from Year of the Rooster in 2016.
Capture the Flag is one game mode that Blizzard likes to roll out for Lunar New year, in the past, CTF maps have been decorated during the event.
Even though we don’t know which heroes will be getting skins this year yet, last year it was Genji, Mercy, Zarya, Pharah, McCree and Widowmaker who got them during Lunar New Year, so we can probably rule them out.
With the event a week away at the time of writing, skins should start to be revealed anytime now, so stick with Dexerto and be sure to follow us @OverwatchTXT on Twitter for all the latest updates on Year of the Pig as they happen.
