The Overwatch 2 announcement finally gave players a look at the new, updated skins for several heroes and one creative fan decided to see what Overwatch League skins would look like on them.
At BlizzCon 2019 players got their first look at newly updated skins for all the heroes in the “Zero Hour” cinematic and a few more in the panel afterward.
The new skins, especially Genji’s, were a hit with people in attendance and those watching at home and it didn’t take long for creative Overwatch fans to do their stuff.
Overwatch 2 skins get the OWL treatment
Overwatch fan and graphic designer plaZma decided to see what Overwatch League skins would look like on the new character models, and it turns out they look pretty sweet.
The NYXL colors really fit with Genji 2.0 and the team’s logo placed as branding on the hoodie and his joggers make it seem like he hit up the latest Excelsior pop up shop for the look.

Tracer 2.0 is also looking spiffy in the black and gold of the Seoul Dynasty, with the lion logo on her shoulder where the Overwatch patch is.
There’s no word if Overwatch League teams will use classic or updated character models for the 2020 season, but it could depend on whether or not Overwatch 2 is even out yet.

When does Overwatch 2 come out?
Jeff Kaplan told fans at BlizzCon that he has “no idea” when Overwatch 2 will be coming out, telling fans “just let us make it great.”
Even though we don’t know when exactly Overwatch 2 is coming out, developers did tell us that the updated character models would be used in the Story and Hero Mission modes, while PvP modes will keep the classic models.
If PvP is sticking with the classic Overwatch hero models, there’s a good chance OWL teams will too, but that doesn’t make plaZma’s concepts any less impressive.
