When is Baptiste going live in Overwatch?

Baptiste, the newest Overwatch hero has been on the PTR for a couple weeks, and players are wondering when he’ll come to the main game and consoles.

UPDATE 3/13: Blizzard has announced that Baptiste will be available in the main game and on console beginning March 19.

New Overwatch heroes always spend some time on the PTR before being released to the main game and consoles.

The time spent on the test region varies from hero to hero, but on average they usually spend about three weeks being tested before going live.

Baptiste was revealed and released to the PTR on February 25, which would make Tuesday, March 19 a likely candidate for when he’ll be going live, based on that three week rule.

Overwatch updates usually happen on either Tuesdays or Thursdays, so there are a few opportunities in the next few weeks for Baptiste to arrive.

For example, Brigitte was released to the PTR on February 28, 2018, and went live on March 20, a little over three weeks later.

When Baptiste is added to the main game it will also be the first time console players will be able to try the new hero, since Xbox and PS4 players can’t access the PTR.

Once he does go live, it will be one week before Baptiste will be available in Competitive play, but he will be playable in Quick Play, Custom Games and Arcade Mode.

There are also a ton of updates to various Overwatch heroes on the PTR right now as well, and there’s a good chance those could go live along with Baptiste.
