Overwatch’s Halloween Terror event is the latest to feature weekly mini challenges where players can unlock exclusive seasonal skins, but some players are wondering if they’ll ever be available again.
The Halloween Terror event in Overwatch is in full swing at the time of writing, with the second of the event’s three weekly challenges currently underway.
Like in Summer Games 2019, each week players can earn an exclusive skin by winning nine games, but some players are wondering if they’ll have another chance to get the skins in the future.
Will weekly challenge skins ever return?
Overwatch has two different types of limited edition skins, those available during events like Summer Games and Halloween Terror, as well as standalone challenges like D.Va’s Nano Cola Challenge.
The standalone challenge skins probably won’t ever make a return, using Nano Cola D.Va for an example: the event started in August of 2018 (over a year ago) and there’s been no news that the unique skin from the event will ever be available.
This makes sense for Blizzard, who use the mini-challenges as a way to incentivize players to log on and get into matches so they don’t miss their chance at the skin.
But, there could be hope for players who missed out on Inferno Junkrat, or any of the Summer Games skins from earlier in the year.

Since the event mini challenges were new to Summer Games 2019, we don’t know how or if they’ll be included in the event for 2020.
The “exclusive” event skins could come back to be available for purchase in future events – so if you missed Inferno Junkrat, there’s at least a sliver of hope he’ll be available again in the future.
Blizzard hasn’t addressed whether or not the weekly event challenge skins will become available in the future – and we might not know until the event rolls around again.
Demon Hunter Sombra is finally available
The most-requested Sombra skin in Overwatch finally returned for Halloween Terror 2019 as the nine-win prize for the third and final week of the event.
“Demon Hunter” was introduced in 2018 as an in-game reward for BlizzCon ticket and virtual pass holders, but Blizzard did say it would be available to everyone else “eventually”.
As we’ve said multiple times though, there’s no guarantee that Demon Hunter Sombra will be available once Halloween Terror 2019 is over, so grab it while you can.
